& Cleaning
A regular check-up exam by Dr. Bliss and one of our hygienist
will include the following:
- X-rays:
Essential for detection of decay, tumors, cysts and bone loss.
- Oral
cancer screening: Face, neck, lips, tongue, throat, tissues,
and gums are thoroughly checked for any oral cancer.
- Gum
disease evaluation: Gums and bone around the teeth will
be checked for periodontal disease.
- Examination
of tooth decay: Tooth surfaces will be checked for decay.
- Examination
of existing restorations:
Check current fillings, crowns, bridges, etc.
Your cleaning
appointment will include all of the above and the following:
- Removal
of tartar: Tartar is hardened plaque that is firmly attached
to the tooth surface. It forms above and below the gum line
and can only be removed with dental instruments.
- Removal
of plaque: Plaque is a sticky, almost invisible film that
forms on teeth. It consists of living bacteria, food debris
and saliva. This bacteria creates toxins that can lead to periodontal
/ gum disease.
- Teeth
polishing: Removes stains and plaque.
